I mean that a company can have good and bad products, and it would not be wise to drop the good ones just because the bad ones. Sony certainly deserved a boycott for what they did, but I think they already toke the lesson. I do think many Adobe software is like a virus, in the sense they install unwanted components that intentionally affect negatively to the execution of competing software, but I don't have any information about Audition being one. While there may be good reasons to include Sony and Adobe in an "evil list", i think in both cases it has nothing to do with the mentioned applications. All are nearly identical to how they were before sold to Sony. Actually Sony bought Sonic Foundry, who developed all of them, and Sony did very little new afterwards. SoundForge, Vegas & Acid are all great applications. As for SoundForge I agree but it's not my first choice. Even though that is not my experience (almost 30 days worth), I'm convinced that I have not been as demanding as you have. You're also mentioning that Audition crashes. This is not something I know how to do with Audition. For example, Rx offers the possibility to remove guitar finger squeaks along with any trailing fx easily. But I have to admit that now after seeing some flash demos of it, I am not as committed to Audition as I thought I was. I had forgotten about Rx (visited the site for info on Ozone a couple of months ago) and dismissed it because of its specialty and price. I'm back from the Izotope site where I reviewed both Ozone and Rx. It includes the greate iZotope multiband compressor, which I like a lot (too bad it won't work in SONAR). I use it primarily for remedial purposes such as surgical editing, noise removal, and remedial EQ. Unfortunately, Sound Forge is a great application.īut fortunately, so is Audition (OK, so it crashes with alarming regularity, but so far no harm's been done). Perhaps the ensuing reorganization will include a re-evaluation of whether or not they're serving customers or the other way around. If it's any satisfaction, Sony just announced 16,000 layoffs. I'm absolutely with you on the "Sony = Evil" front. Pricey, though - at $350 it's comparable in price to Audition but not as full-featured. I have not used it myself, but I've never heard anything but good things about it. IZotope, Ozone's manufacturer, sells a highly-regarded product called RX. Ozone won't help much with noise removal, but its world-class mastering limiter makes it worth the investment. There seems to be several people here who have Sony on their "evil" list. Thanks for the vote of confidence tarsier. I don't think you'll go wrong with Audition.
